Spindle Palm (Hyophorbe verschaffeltii) Earning it's name from a spindle shaped trunk, this tropical palm works well as a specimen or accent tree. 

On a humid day on the island of Oahu is where I fell in love with palms (Arecaceae). The first one, most commonly known as, a coconut palm (Cocos nucifera) was when I was walking along the water on Waikiki beach. The same week I discovered a palm near a lane in Kailua. This palm tree was so full of coconuts just hanging there ready to fall at any moment, I was amazed at how many grew on it. Lanikai is the most beautiful with the white sand and stunning blue waters, the palms just compliment the serenity and make it truly paradise.
